Four brominated bisphenol A/S and its derivatives are the most widely used
brominated flame retardants, which are widely used in electronic appliances,
paint, textiles and other daily necessities. In the process of production and
use, they can enter the environment through a variety of ways and accumulate
in various media and become widely used as contaminants. With the increasing
use of such compounds, the environmental and health hazards caused by them
will become an important environmental problem that can not be ignored.
The Jiang Guibin research group, the Jiang Guibin research group of the State
Key Laboratory of environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology, the Academy of
ecological environment of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has studied the
brominated flame retardants of the four brominated bisphenol A/S since 2010.
The research group has developed a new analytical method based on electrospray
extraction and ionization technology, solid phase microextraction and high
resolution mass spectrometry. It is used in the analysis of four bromo bisphenol
A/S derivatives and by-products in the environment. The sensitivity and selectivity
of the derivative detection are improved, and the unknown brominated pollutants
in the complex environment medium are realized. Non target recognition provides
the necessary technical means for the environmental behavior and environmental
fate research of such pollutants. Relevant research achievements have published
a series of research papers and published a summary.
Through the analysis of the actual environmental samples, 8 kinds of TBBPA/S
by-products were identified and identified for the first time in soil, sediment,
river water, sea water and marine organisms, and the structure of these by-products
was further revealed through the synthesis of standard chemicals. The analysis
of biological samples in Bohai showed that the TBBPA/S side products mainly
howed the trend of dilution of food chain, which was more harmful to lower
organisms. Cytotoxicity evaluation experiments showed that TBBPA/S derivatives
and by-products had higher neurotoxicity. Relevant research results have been
published in Environmental Science and technology.Recently, by studying the
molecular transformation of TBBPA under anaerobic conditions, 10 kinds of TBBPA
derivatives related transformation products were found and identified, of which
6 kinds of brominated pollutants were reported for the first time. This study will
provide important data support for environmental fate of TBBPA derivatives and
comprehensive evaluation of environmental risks of TBBPA brominated flame retardants.
